MEININGER takes a holistic approach to accessibility
In this success story, we look at how MEININGER Hotels introduced digital accessibility in a short space of time using Eye-Able. It explores how they have made accessibility a core part of their work—both on their website and throughout their physical hotels.

About MEININGER Hotels
Founded in 1999, MEININGER Hotels operates 36 hotels across 26 European cities. The company’s mission is to provide central, accessible, and affordable accommodation for everyone, regardless of their background or reason for travel. This inclusive approach is supported by a team of 1,330 employees from over 90 nationalities.
As Head of Digital Marketing at MEININGER Hotels, Céline Mamane leads the group’s digital strategy. Together with the project team they manage the integration of Eye-Able to ensure the company’s commitment to accessibility is reflected across all online platforms.

Designing accessibility across every touchpoint
“For us, accessibility doesn’t stop at the website. We have to look at the entire user journey — from the first visit to booking, payment, check-in and beyond. Our goal was to make all of these touchpoints accessible and usable for everyone.”

Works across teams
Developers, content, design and customer care were all involved. Eye-Able fit into this setup and supported a shared, day-to-day approach to accessibility.
Accessibility started long before the law
MEININGER began working on digital accessibility around a year before the BFSG came into force. While legal requirements were a reference point, the decision was largely driven by the company’s long-standing commitment to accessibility in its hotels.
Enabling everyone to travel with confidence and enjoy our hotel experiences starts by enhancing accessibility across all MEININGER hotels and ensuring guests receive transparent, reliable information about accessibility.
In addition, our six MEININGER Hotels in Berlin have been the first ones being certified by Reisen für Alle (Travel for all) a nationally recognised label for accessible travel.

"Accessibility has always been a topic for us as a hotel group. It’s not something that starts online or with a law — it’s part of how we think about our houses and the guest experience overall."

“The Eye-Able software doesn't just show us what's wrong; it gives us specific suggestions on how to fix it. This allowed our internal teams to handle the implementation themselves and, more importantly, it taught us how to avoid making those same errors in the future.”
