A ❤️ matter

Since childhood
It all started in the childhood of the founder Oliver. There he met his friend Lennart, who suffers from a genetic visual disease. They went to elementary school together and later to high school. There, his friend's eyesight deteriorated and he could no longer read the writing on the blackboard. So Oliver read everything to him so that he could continue to attend classes. The problems with reading the board are also reflected in the operation and readability of websites. Since not only Lennart feels this way, but many other people, the idea of customizing the view came up so that everyone can simply see the website as it is needed. The solution: an assistance technology that adapts a barrier-free view of the website to the needs of the users.
Research in the field of accessibility
In order to include more people in the project and to research their problems on websites with the aim of being able to create functions from them, numerous interviews with visually impaired people, older people and people with cognitive disabilities have been carried out since 2018. In our opinion, a solution can only be developed with those affected, which will provide a real remedy and thus create accessibility. For this reason, at Eye-Able, people are always at the center of all developments. From the results of the interviews, functions for the assistance technology were gradually developed, which were later tested and improved in several runs together with those affected. This agile approach is intended to perfect the usability of the Eye-Able assistance technology.
Assistance software under test
An eye-tracking analysis in the course of Oliver's thesis was able to provide the first quantitative figures on the benefits of the Eye-Able assistance technology. Here, the benefit of age-related visual impairment was examined. The result was clear - the subjects were able to deliver better results with the 43% assistance technology and thus use the website faster and more efficiently.
Current research
Further interviews are currently being conducted in order to find new problems that arise when operating websites and to create solutions for them. We want to create accessibility on the Internet with our Eye-Able assistance technology, so that everyone can see and operate websites regardless of restrictions.
The power of the web is in its universality.
Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.
